"it's good to have you here"

geez. what has got into me today. so anyway, as you guys know, i was sent to barclay capital @ atrium, somewhere near plaza singapura on the third week of my attachment at whizzass. initially, i was excited to be finally getting out from mcpherson (where whizzass located). why?
1. it's frigging near my house.
2. i could wake up late.
3. i could go home during lunch hour.
4. the office is so much nicer than whizzass.
5. my supervisor won't be there.
6. have i said it's so near my house?
7. i thought i don't have to do "carrying cpu(s)" (which was obviously wrong but it will be explained more later)
8. so many hot angmohs (compared to whizzass where all the uncles squat down outside the office smoking)
9. it's near town, meaning i can go anywhere to eat for lunch or "break".
10. it's an international company and it would look good on my resume.

anyway, i could list down another 20 other reasons but i shall stop here. so anyway, it turned out to be quite a nightmare. i wasn't only involved in setting up the PCs but i needed to carry them and place it on the new desks with monitors plus everything else. at first it wasn't that bad since i have my partner with me to have lunch together or carry stuffs which he helped quite a lot since he's bigger built than i am. things were worse when whizzass decided to take back my partner to company leaving me alone there. i was VERY miserable. imagine these, i have to eat alone, carry PCs alone and no one to talk to at all. it went on religiously weeks after weeks until kelly worked @ HSBC which is just one tower away from my building. she's been there for me for the past 3 weeks and i don't know whether she's reading this but i want to thank her. well, she was there to encourage me saying to hang on, and other positive stuffs and also friend to have lunch with.

anyway, i thought tomorrow will be my last day of my stay @ barclay and that's what i have been telling the people there. i was going back to whizzass on friday. so, anyway, at 5 pm today, my supervisor gave me a call and told me to go back to company tomorrow since it's my last day today. i was like yay. i'm going back to the spazzed, disordered enterprise. then, one of the angmoh guys, who usually gives me the most things to do, came in to the room (which is a server room and isolated from the office and thus, being alone most of the time). so i told him that i just got a phone call from my boss and today is apparently my last day. he was kinda like bummed out, saying stuff like "shit", "oh really" and then he started to call his colleague and asked whether it was true. (stupid. why would i lie though?) and then his colleague confirmed it. he seemed a little displeased. and then i asked him with a sinister smile, "are there a lot of things to do tomorrow" cause that's the only explanation i could think of why he's being annoyed. then he said, "oh no. it's just that it's good to have you here." and then he started to chat with me for the first time, from what i am going to do after this and asked me how my interview went and gave me a few tips in finding jobs and other craps. he wished me good luck and that's that. i'm off to home. on the way home, the sentence kept on playing on my mind. i know it sounded a bit gay but it seemed like it paid off my whole 2 months of slogging and toiling there. i couldn't stop smiling after that.

it's a little sad to leave there. i mean, i've worked there longer than i've worked in whizass. and it's always sad to leave familiarity. but for such is life. life is like a book with different chapters on it. and i've passed another chapther of my life and looking forward to the next chapter.

the moral of the story? it seems cliche but a simple thank you will make anyone day. trust me.
